West Cornwall Gardening

"If I had two loaves of bread, I would sell one and buy hyancinths, for they would feed my soul."

WHAT IS EVERYONE PLANTING THIS YEAR?
THE season is here, and I am sure we have been out working in our gardens! Is there something new you are trying this year? Do you have a favorite, or a tried and true? Let us know what you are doing with your garden this season!

GARDEN PESTS
We all get them. Any special method for dealing with them? What kind do you have real problems with, and how do you manage it? IPM? Natural or homemade remedies? Share it with us. Why not share what works for you with other gardeners. That also includes deer, although sometimes it seems nothing works with them...

GARDEN PICTURES
Share your garden with the rest of us! We would love to see!

FAVORITE NURSERY OR MAIL ORDER? What is your favorite nursery this year? I know mine changes pretty much with selection, condition of plants and price. I also have a few favorite mail order sources. Heronswood is probably my favorite for plants (they have Papaver 'Patty's Plum!) and a lot of fun to read, along with Mountain Maples for Acers-Japenese Maples, and McClure and Zimmerman to name a few. Favorite seed catalogs would be first- Chiltern Seeds in England- as well as being a wonderful catalog to just read! And of course Thompson and Morgan. And the list goes on, these are just a few. And of course, in our area, there is White Flower Farm, The Bulb Book (also WFF, formerly Daffodil Mart owned by Brent and Becky Heath) and Shepards Seeds (formerly owned by Renee Shepard).

ROSES FOR SHADE

Except for those of us who are very lucky to have lot's of sun, there are roses we can grow who will do well in dappled shade and informal woodland gardens. I am one who has more shade than sun. So I thought I would offer some varieties for these conditions:
