MINUTES OF THE REGULAR
MEETING OF THE
CORNWALL BOARD OF SELECTMEN
Tuesday, July 18, 2006

PRESENT:
First Selectman Gordon Ridgway, Selectman Richard Bramley, one reporter
First
Selectman Ridgway called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
APPROVAL
OF MINUTES: Selectman Bramley made corrections to the minutes of the July 3,
2006 special meeting. Selectman Bramley was not present at the special July 3
meeting. Also it should be noted there was not a quorum of Board of Selectmen
members. Selectman Bramley made the motion to approve the special minutes as
amended and the regular minutes of July 3, 2006. First Selectman Ridgway
seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
ADDITIONS
TO THE AGENDA: First Selectman Ridgway made the motion to add to the agenda
Budget Transfer and Executive Session: Real Estate, land for sale in West
Cornwall and Cornwall Bridge and letter of request from the Cornwall
Conservation Trust to abate taxes on Cornwall land. Selectman Bramley seconded.
Motion passed unanimously.
COMMUNICATIONS:
none
SCHAGHTICOKE
FOI CLAIM: First Selectman Ridgway reported on Ms. Kathy Velky’s FOI request.
Her request was complied with excepting client confidential attorney files. The
Board discussed the request.
FOOTE
FIELDS: First Selectman Ridgway reported that Mr. Hermann is making a sign for
Foote Fields which will hopefully be up in time for the weekend’s town picnic.
VACANY:
The Board discussed the vacancy on the Inland Wetland Water Courses Agency.
There was one application. The Board reviewed the application. Selectman
Bramley made the motion to appoint Marc D. Simont to the Inland Wetland Water
Courses Agency. First Selectman Ridgway seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
MOHAWK
FIVE YEAR PLAN: The Board reviewed the five year plan for the ski area on
Mohawk Mountain.
CORNWALL
CONSERVATION TRUST: The Board reviewed a request from the Cornwall Conservation
Trust for a town ordinance which would entitle the Cornwall Conservation Trust
to be exempt from taxes as of the date of recording of the transfer of title.
Presently they are liable for the taxes from that date until the following
October when the next Grand List begins. The Board discussed this. First
Selectman Ridgway will consult with assessor Barbara Bigos.
The
Board answered questions from the press. First Selectman Ridgway informed the
press that long time, 14 years, highway foreman Donnie Reid has taken the
highway foreman job in Salisbury and will be leaving us. The Board wishes him
well and thanks him for his years of service. His last day will be August 18.
First Selectman Ridgway pointed out that our town roads are in much better
condition than when he first came. First Selectman Ridgway will work on a
highway foreman job description. The office is now accepting applications.
EXECUTIVE
SESSION: First Selectman Ridgway made the motion to go into executive session
to discuss Real Estate, land for sale in West Cornwall and Cornwall Bridge.
Selectman Bramley seconded. Motion passed unanimously. The Board went into executive
session at 8:10 p.m.
The
Board came out of executive session at 8:25 p.m. No action was taken.
Selectman
Bramley made the motion to adjourn. It was seconded by First Selectman Ridgway.
Meeting adjourned at 8:26 p.m.
