MINUTES OF THE EMERGENCY MEETING OF THE
CORNWALL BOARD OF SELECTMEN

PRESENT: First Selectman Gordon Ridgway, Selectman K.C. Baird, Selectman Bramley

First Selectman Ridgway called an emergency meeting to discuss the status of the highway department steel building and the snow load, to come to a decision on highway foreman salary and to complete the budget.

First Selectman Ridgway called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. The Board welcomed the new Highway Foreman Jim Vanicky to the meeting and congratulated him on his work as Interim Highway Foreman during this transition period. The Board expressed their thanks to the foreman and highway crew for the work that has been done during this difficult time of year which has experienced an exceptional snow fall.

The Board discussed with Mr. Vanicky who reported on the snow load on the steel structure at the highway garage. He had spoken with Building Inspector Paul Prindle who advised that no one go on the roof due to the stress of the weight of the snow load. The Board discussed this issue. The building will be monitored.

With the harsh winter the Board deemed it important to establish the new highway foreman in his role as soon as possible. The Board and Mr. Vanicky discussed his salary as Highway Foreman. The Board and Mr. Vanicky arrived at an agreement to salary which includes over time.

The Board deemed it important to establish the budget for 2011-2012. The Board reviewed the budget and made adjustments. First Selectman Ridgway made the motion to send to the Board of Finance the 2011-2012 Budget as finalized today. Selectman Baird seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

Meeting adjourned at 10:00 a.m.
