MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE
CORNWALL BOARD OF SELECTMEN

9:30 a.m. - Town Hall

PRESENT: First Selectman Gordon Ridgway, Selectman Richard Bramley, Transfer Station Attendant Fred Bate III

First Selectman Ridgway called the meeting to order at 9:40 a.m.

First Selectman Ridgway presented to Mr. Bate the option of conducting the meeting in Executive Session or would he prefer it to be a public session. First Selectman Ridgway explained the difference. Mr. Bate chose public session.

The Board and Mr. Bate reviewed and discussed letters from the Board to Mr. Bate concerning transfer station operator state certification renewal as a mandatory part of the job requirement, his present expired certification and classes available. The Board and Mr. Bate discussed his future plans and issues he had concerning the facility. In light of this discussion the Board and Mr. Bate came to a mutual agreement it was time for Mr. Bate to retire.

First Selectman Ridgway made the motion to accept the mutually agreed upon separation of employment with Mr. Fred Bate III as transfer station attendant for the Town of Cornwall with no hard feelings on either side. Selectman Bramley seconded. There was discussion of separation details. Motion passed unanimously including aye from Mr. Bate III.

First Selectman Ridgway made the motion to hire Mr. Ted Larson as part time replacement transfer station attendant until the position can be posted and an attendant is hired permanently. Selectman Bramley seconded. There was discussion of covering the position until replacement hired. Motion passed unanimously.

Selectman Bramley made a motion to adjourn; it was seconded by First Selectman Ridgway. Motion passed unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 9:55 a.m.
