MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
CORNWALL BOARD OF SELECTMEN
Tuesday, September 2, 2008
7:30 p.m. - Town Hall
PRESENT: First Selectman Gordon Ridgway, Selectman K.C. Baird, Selectman Richard Bramley, one reporter
First Selectman Ridgway called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
MINUTES: Selectman Bramley made the motion, it was seconded by Selectman Baird, to approve the minutes of August 19, 2008 as presented. Motion passed unanimously.
ADDITIONS TO THE AGENDA: There were none.
COMMUNICATIONS: There were none.
SOLAR AT CCS: First Selectman Ridgway updated the Board on the Open House for the bidders at the grade school for the solar panels. It was to have happened August 26, but was canceled. The anticipated new date is September 15 or 16, to be decided. The Board discussed this and a news article concerning CL&P and green energy projects.
CCS PLAYGROUND: First Selectman Ridgway reported to the Board that the new playscape is up and in use as of today. A letter of compliance from the company will be coming and the town insurance agent is coming to inspect. The Board discussed this and final details to attend to.
FIRE TRUCK: First Selectman Ridgway updated the Board on the purchase of a new fire truck. A contract has been signed for $300,000 with a $15,000 quote for the options. The Board discussed this.
BUDGET TRANSFER: Concerning the budgeted amount for the new fire truck and the quote for the necessary options, the board discussed a budget transfer.
First Selectman Ridgway made the motion to transfer $15,500 from Capital Projects, CVFD Building Upgrades 02-490-92415 to Capital Projects CVFD Fire Pumper 02-490-92. Selectman Baird seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
ANNUAL REPORT: The annual report has not been written yet and the Board has received an extension from the Treasurer.
FUEL OIL: First Selectman Ridgway reported to the Board that the Town of Cornwall has joined the Region One consortium for fuel oil at a$3.50 a gallon and diesel at $3.73 a gallon. The Board discussed this. The Board discussed the addition of a diesel fuel tank for the buses and the cost and scheduling of road oil for road resurfacing.
BILL PAYMENT: Bills were paid in the usual manner.
EXECUTIVE SESSION: First Selectman Ridgway made the motion to go into executive session to discuss legal advice. Selectman Baird seconded. Motion passed unanimously. The Board went into executive session at 8:00 p.m.
The Board came out of executive session at 8:10 p.m. No action was taken.
