MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE

CORNWALL BOARD OF SELECTMEN

Tuesday, January 16, 2007 - 7:30 p.m. - Town Hall

PRESENT: First Selectman Gordon Ridgway, Selectman K.C. Baird, Selectman Richard Bramley, Highway Foreman Rick Stone

First Selectman Ridgway called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Selectman Baird made the motion to approve the minutes of January 2 and January 10 as presented. Selectman Bramley seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

ADDITIONS TO THE AGENDA: First Selectman Ridgway made the motion to add to the agenda Smart Power. Selectman Bramley seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

COMMUNICATIONS: First Selectman Ridgway communicated to the Board an offer to car pool to tomorrow’s COST meeting in Cromwell. The Board discussed it.

HIGHWAY BUDGET 2007-2008: The reviewed the Capitol Plan and the highway budge with highway foreman Rick Stone. Truck purchase, contracted services, purchase and rental of equipment was discussed. Costs and estimates were discussed. What could be purchased in the present budget year was discussed.

GENERAL BUDGET 2007-2008: First Selectman Ridgway recommended tabling discussion to the end of the meeting.

APPOINTMENT: First Selectman Ridgway informed the Board that the Democratic Town Committee recommended moving Nancy Calhoun from alternate to full member on the Zoning Board of Appeals to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of member Anne Chamberlain. The Board discussed the vacancy. First Selectman Ridgway made the motion to fill the vacancy of Anne Chamberlain with Nancy Calhoun as full member to the Zoning Board of Appeals. Selectman Baird seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

TOWN MEETING CALL: The Board reviewed and discussed a town meeting call for the purpose of fulfilling the applications for two STEAP grants and to accept .45 acres of unimproved land adjacent to the town landfill. The Board signed the Town Meeting call and the Return of Notice. The meeting will be February 8, 2007.

UPDATES: First Selectman Ridgway reported he had met with the West Cornwall Building Committee concerning the renovations to be done there under the STEAP grant. The committee consists of Jerry Doolittle, Priscilla Mauro, Priscilla Miller, Tom Bechtle, and Everett Van Dorn.

BILL PAYMENT: Bills were paid in the usual manner.

GENERAL BUDGET 2007-2008: The Board reviewed and discussed the Budget of 2007-2008.
