Cornwall Energy Task Force

Minutes January 12, 2009, Town Hall, 9:15-10:45 am.

 

In attendance:

Deb Bennett, Anne Scott, Nick Xatzis, Katherine Freygang, Gordon Ridgway

 

Old Business:

·      CCS Lighting Audit -.
Debbie Bennett reported that only the gym was left to do and that all town buildings were included in the renovation of lighting. She will call Karen Bartomioli of the Lakeville Journal to do an article on the process.

·      Sign Ons to CL&P for 30%-
Katie reports that we have the numbers (196) to meet 30% but CT Innovations is reporting 164.5. Our program is to continue to sign people on (maintaining immaculate records), keep Andrew Roraback and Roberta Willis abreast of this situation, to continually request updates from CT Innovations.

·      Update on CCS Installation-
This has been put on hold until we have attained recognition for our 30%.

·      Commercial Energy Use and Mohawk Wind Project-
Gordon will be in touch with Mohawk Inc.  Anne is looking into attaining a year’s worth of meteorological data.    

·      Publicity-
Without the Zinssers, we need to tighten up our contacts. Anne will find a contact at the Hartford Courant and Katie will assemble a list of contacts that we have made so far.

 

New Business: Winter Programs (V3 Program and Reducing E Usage.)

On Monday Jan 26, there will be an extra meeting at 6pm at 10 Pine Street to discuss a library presentation on kW usage, possibly called “vampires”. Nick and Bruce Bennett will explain their experiences and Anne and Katie will provide supplemental information.

Nick reported that Salisbury is assembling a craftsmen’s collaborative around efficiienct building and recommended the books, Cradle to Cradle by McDonough and The Singularity is Near by Ray.

Anne is doing more research for a report on CCEFs or fuel cells.
