Cornwall July Fest Youth Races, 1 July 2001 (From: Johan Winsser, 860.672.6384) Amid the merriment of Cornwall’s July Fest, twenty-four runners ages twelve and under finished the second annual Cornwall mile run. Brian Balanda, age 11, broke the course record taking first-place honors with a strong 6:43. He edged his friend Aron Dwyer by a mere second. Third place in the boys division went to Dan Theleen in 7:07. Carolyn Kosciusko, age 10, improved her time from last year by more than a minute to capture the girls’ division in a fine 7:50. The Sawicki sisters, Liz and Rebecca, tied for second place girls in 9:29. Two six-year olds, Wilson Terrall and Charlie Van Doren, finished in twelfth and thirteenth places at 9:43 and 10:07.
